To dissect the impact of inflammatory stromal components WP2 investigates the role of tumour-associated macrophages in coculture models in-vitro and elucidates the impact of macrophage-inhibition in genetically engineered mouse models. The role of immunomodulatory cells is investigated in a humanized immune-reconstituted (HIR) mouse model, hosting both the xenotransplanted bone-marrow derived immune system and the adenocarcinoma of the same pancreatic cancer patient. Therapeutic monoclonal antibodies and DNA vaccines are developed towards a selection of tumour antigens validated in human and engineered mouse models.
